Ann de Windt was born in Ghent on 19 December 1968. She visits the Higher St. Lucas Institute for Visual Arts, Ceramics Department, in Ghent.
The formal language of Ann de Windt's work is sober, the most striking feature of her objects is the skin. She mixes the wet clay with all kinds of materials, such as wood, paper, etc., which burn during firing and leave an erratic trail, or bulge outwards. Her colours are reminiscent of fallen autumn leaves, a partially decayed branch or the blue tones of a forest pool (text courtesy of Galerie Carla Koch in Amsterdam).
