Lut Laleman was born in Diksmuide in 1958. Lut follows the training of pharmacist and performs this as a profession. As a hobbyist she withdraws the clay and starts a training at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, initially Department of Painting, in Dendermonde. After three years of training she continues with ceramics with Frank Steyaert.
Lut builds up her work by hand. She applies the ancient method of stacking coils of clay. With this she makes large, double layered bowls in white and black porcelain. The shape is always based on the circle or on intersections of the circle. The complexity of the patterns and the size of the shapes require a lot of patience.
