Erik Pløen was a well known Norwegian potter. He started as an apprentice in 1942 Schneider and Knutzen at Slemdal in Oslo. After the war he traveled among other to Royal Copenhagen in Copenhagen and the University of Chicago. Pløen started his own workshop in Singapore in 1946. He later moved to Strange (1948-1957). After a certain time he moved to Son in Vestby, where he opened a new workshop and installed a gas oven (1964). Erik Pløen passes away in Son (NO) in 2004.
He develloped a series of unique glazes that have become his trademark.
