Henk Verberkmoes's early work is relatively rare. He was not a very productive artist then because he was often quelled by feelings of dissatisfaction with the quality of his own work. With this medium sized potter's wheel thrown bowl, it is all about the decoration on the inside. An abstract (or could it be animals) sgraffito decor has been applied to a yet to become glass-like glaze, when making this bowl. In the dark parts tiny motifs have been etched. The artist used a favoured feldspar glaze. The outer surface is of a lighter colour. Flawless. There are two open blisters in the bowl, as if eyes, very round as if deliberately applied so.

Het vroege werk van Henk Verberkmoes is relatief zeldzaam. Omdat hij heel kritisch was op zijn eindresultaat was hij geen productief kunstenaar. Bij deze middelgrote op de schijf gedraaide schaalkom gaat het om het decor aan de binnenzijde. In de nog niet verglaasde glazuur is een abstract (of toch dieren?) sgraffito decor aangebracht. In de donkere delen zijn kleine motieven ingekrast. De schaal is uitgevoerd in een door de kunstenaar graag toegepaste veldspaatglazuur. Buitenzijde lichter van kleur. Gaaf. Twee open blaasjes in de kom, alsof het ogen zijn, heel rond alsof deze bewust zijn aangebracht.
