Jaap Ravelli (1916). Following the closure of his Potterie Ravelli in Valkenburg (prov. of South Holland), Jaap Ravelli further developed his talents as unica ceramist. His renewed interest in the contenent of Africa resulted in a series of unica animal masks. The mask we offer here was inspired by the head of an antilope. The imaginary horns can be attributed to a whale. This mask is in mint condition and made out of a hard stoneware pot-shard. Numbered FA. 183 and signed JJRAVELLI. This animal mask is offered together with the original design sketch. In 2008 a splendid video interview with Jaap Ravelli was recorded and later presented in Museum De Lakenhal in Leiden.

Jaap Ravelli (1916) heeft zich na het sluiten van Potterie Ravelli in Valkenburg (ZH) verder ontwikkeld als unica keramist. Zijn belangstelling voor Afrika heeft hij opnieuw geuit in een serie unica dierenmaskers. Het hier aangeboden masker is geinspireerd op de kop van een antilope. De fantasiehoorns zijn afkomstig van een potvis. Dit masker is puntgaaf en van een harde steengoed scherf. Genummerd FA. 183 en gesigneerd JJRAVELLI. Hoogte 33 cm. Dit dierenmasker wordt aangeboden, samen met de originele ontwerpschets.

In 2008 is van Jaap Ravelli een fraai video interview afgenomen dat in Museum De Lakenhal te Leiden werd gepresenteerd.
