This extremely rare little bottle is made of stoneware earthenware. It is meant for the storage of alcoholic liquids. It belongs in an alchemist's laboratory. It was thrown in Duingen on the River Weser (Germany), and most probably reached The Netherlands via the city of Bremen and the province of Groningen. These small bottles are not very easy to date, but shall we say between 1750 and 1850. An added newspaper article ('De Telegraaf' of 25th February 1933) reveals that this little bottle had been found in the Vrijenbansen Polder near Delft.
