Claude Champy is born on September 12, 1944 at Plaisir (Yvelines), France. The life of Claude Champy is extraordinarily linear since he is living and working in the same place where he is born. Between 1964 and 1968 he gets lessons at the École des Arts Appliqués et des Métiers d' Art in Paris, in the studio van Pierre Fouquet. Already at a very young age he confirms his very personal simple technique. It is characterized by the use of stoneware clay, two glazes black and white and sometimes some soda. Although he makes all kind of variations, he adheres the original concept (source: ceramiques-contemporaines-sevres).

Work of the artist:
Claude Champy: "For the past 40 years, I have had my hands in the earth, my heart with the fire and my head in the stars with growing happiness of making things. I believe that I have unconsciously acquired a freedom in my work that I have not imagined for 20 years. I hope for many opportunities to share it because it is too much for myself alone " (source: erskinehallcoe.com).
