Pierre Caille is born in Tournai / Doornik in Belgium on January 11, 1911. In 1931 he starts his study at Ecole nationale supérieure d'Architecture et des Arts décoratifs La Chambre in Brussels. He starts as a painter. In 1936 is his first contact with ceramics, following the advices of Henry Van de Velde. In 1937 he designs theatre decorations and jewellery in gold and silver. In 1941 he opens his first ceramic studio. In 1949 he creats his first ceramic mural. In 1953 he delivers huge ceramic pieces for the casino of Oostende. Caille dies in Brussels on October 24, 1996.
